Gio van Bronckhorst's first words as Rangers manager as he makes dream Ibrox return

Gio van Bronckhorst can't wait to meet the Rangers support again after being named the new boss in a whirlwind vening at Ibrox.

Things have moved quickly in Govan since Steven Gerrard 's departure for Aston Villa with the Dutchman top of the wish list.

Now Ross Wilson and the board have got their man ahead of a massive week for the club with Premier Sports Cup and Europa League showdowns on the horizon.

The former Rangers player is now charged with retaining the Scottish Premiership title as he gets to work at Ibrox.

The 46-year-old is looking to put his own stamp on things at the club as he hailed a "new era" for the champions.

Van Bronckhorst told the club website: “I am absolutely delighted to be returning to Rangers as the club’s new manager.

“I feel so lucky to be going to work with a squad which is in a great position on all fronts and largely has that experience of being winners.

“I look forward to carrying on and enhancing the work that has been done already alongside Ross Wilson and the board of the club, and I’m grateful for the chance to work again at this huge football club.

“I cannot wait to meet the club’s incredible supporters again and begin this new era for us all.”
