Gino D'Acampo to host Family Fortunes when revamped quiz show returns to television

Classic quiz show Family Fortunes is set to return to television with celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo as host.

The much-loved Italian, 43, will front the revamped show, which is making a comeback after 18 years with the first contestants recruited later this year.

In the show, two families competed against each other to provide answers to a series of questions that had been asked to a larger group, reports MirrorOnline.

Family Fortunes has had several presenters including Bob Monkhouse and Les Dennis during it's 20-year history.

Most recently, there has been a celebrity 'All Star' revival of the show which was presented by Vernon Kay.

An ITV insider explained to The Sun that telly bosses had been eager to bring the show back on air.

“Family Fortunes is one of TV’s most-loved formats and ITV have been looking at when it might be right to bring it back," the source said.

“After a successful pilot earlier this year, they’re putting it back on primetime where it belongs."

Gino, who rose to fame thanks to his culinary skills and energetic personality, is reportedly close to finalising the new TV job.

The source added: "Gino is all but signed and they think he will bring his own unique brand of enthusiasm and charisma to the show.”

Fans of the original show have been called for Family Fortunes to return for years, with many demanding the return of Les Dennis as presenter.
