Gino D'Acampo causes chaos on This Morning by making Phillip Schofield dig

Gino D'Acampo made his grand return to This Morning after spending time away and couldn't resist taking a quip at the Phillip Schofield scandal.

The Italian chef, 46, has been absent from the ITV show in recent weeks as he's been in Italy, but returned on Tuesday morning to for his cooking segment with Holly Willoughby and Dermot O'Leary.

As he detailed what he would be doing on the show to Holly and Dermot, the I'm A Celebrity star revealed that his dish was changed at the last minute.

"I was going to make melanzane alla parmigiana, with the aubergine. But apparently, I can't do anything with aubergine at the moment so I'm going to make a tiramisu."

As he prepared to get on with things in the kitchen, he added: "Any news in the last month that I should know of?"

Following his dessert recipe Holly told that Gino would be back for another segment just shortly and that they all 'needed a drink' after that.

After causing chaos with his tiramisu recipe, Gino was back again to make cocktails for Holly and Dermot where he joked he would present This Morning in September.

Gino joked he'd be taking over for Phil in September (ITV)

Viewers immediately took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Gino's return to This Morning as fans praised the TV chef. One wrote: "Gino never disappoints, causing Dermot and Holly to squirm a bit making light of the Phil saga #ThisMorning."

"Gino is a legend when he just asked “is there any news since I’ve been gone” GINO GINO GINO #ThisMorning," someone else wrote. While another said: " @thismorning @Ginofantastico you know its going to be a fab day on This Morning when Gino is on and today is no exception.... We have have him twice today and as usual his first spot in the kitchen was HILARIOUS.... great to see him back."

A fourth tweeted: "I KNEW Gino was going to bring the Schofield saga. F***ing love it #itvthismorning #thismorning," while someone else added: "Well Gino doesn’t disappoint does he “I’ve been in Italy for a month, any news I need to know about?” Que poor Holly looking awkward #thismorning."
