Giffnock fire: Van in flames on Fenwick Road as emergency services race to scene

Emergency services have raced to the scene of a van on fire in Giffnock.

Pictures sent to Glasgow Live show a white van carrying a trailer ablaze on Fenwick Road.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they are at the scene to the south of Glasgow.

An eyewitness told Glasgow Live thankfully there doesn't appear to be anyone hurt as a result of the blaze and that the road has been shut down by emergency services as a result.

An SFRS spokesperson confirmed: "We are attending a report of a van on fire in the Giffnock area.

"We are in attendance at the moment and there are no messages back from the crew as of yet."

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Police were made aware of van on fire on Fenwick Road, Giffnock around 1.35pm on Friday, 23 April, 2021."

Officers are currently in attendance to assist the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
