Giants sign kicker Joey Slye

The New York Giants continued to add to their roster on Monday by signing placekicker Joey Slye to their active roster.

Slye, who kicked at Virginia Tech from 2014-2017, tried out for several NFL teams last year as an undrafted free agent but went unsigned. At Virginia Tech, Slye was a four-year starter, an all-Atlantic Coast Conference selection and a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, which is presented to the top kicker in the nation.

Slye was signed after being invited for a tryout this past weekend at the Giants’ rookie minicamp. He is a long shot to make the roster since the incumbent, Aldrich Rosas, had a breakout year in 2018, being named a second-team All-Pro and representing the Giants at the Pro Bowl.

The Giants re-signed Rosas as an exclusive right free agent in March.
