Giants’ Jason Pinnock knows from experience: Jets have ‘little brother’ syndrome

This weekend, the New York Jets and New York Giants will rekindle the New York City rivalry in a pivotal matchup for both teams.

Jason Pinnock, who grew up a Jet fan prior to being drafted by Gang Green, certainly knows both sides of the rivalry.

Pinnock talked about the rivalry ahead of the Week 8 game.

“Being over there, the little-brother thing, that’s how they feel,” Pinnock said, via the New York Post. “Being on both ends of it, it’s funny. It’s time to get it in the regular season now.”

“Even if you didn’t know the history of it, we play in the same stadium. You literally are fighting for this city overall.”

Pinnock was drafted in the fifth round by the Jets back in 2021 before being waived prior to his sophomore season. Big Blue claimed the defensive back just days prior to the start of the 2022 regular season — quite the find for Joe Schoen in his first season with the Giants.

The Jets have certainly played second fiddle to Big Blue in recent memory. Gang Green currently holds one of the longest active playoff droughts in US sports.

After acquiring Aaron Rodgers, the Jets had all the attention of the city entering this season. However, that quickly changed just four snaps into the Rodgers era.

As the two teams battle for New York bargain rights, you can bet that players like Pinnock and Leonard Williams have a little extra motivation going up against their former team this week.
