Giants injury report: Mike Remmers among those sidelined on Wednesday

Even before the New York Giants took the field for their first full regular season practice ahead of a Week 1 game against the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Pat Shurmur essentially ruled two players out.

Both rookie wide receiver Darius Slayton (groin/hamstring) and tight end Garrett Dickerson (quad) have been deemed unlikely to play, which held true as the team hit the field in East Rutherford. Neither Slayton nor Dickerson practiced.

“(Darius) Slayton and (Garrett) Dickerson probably won’t make it this week. But other than that, we’ll just see how practice goes today,” Shurmur told reporters on Wednesday.

The surprise came when it was revealed that they weren’t alone on the sideline. Rather, they were joined by right tackle Mike Remmers, who was also not participating on Wednesday.

The good news is that Remmers’ ailment isn’t expected to keep him out on Sunday, which would have been the very last thing the Giants and quarterback Eli Manning needed.

Below is the full injury report:

Did not practice: OT Mike Remmers (illness/back), TE Garrett Dickerson (quad), WR Darius Slayton (hamstring)

Full participation: CB Antonio Hamilton (adductor), LB Nate Stupar (concussion)
