Giants’ Eli Manning leads April workouts with Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning isn’t changing his offseason routine as he heads into his 16th season, calling on running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver Sterling Shepard to join him for some early April workouts.

The trio were spotted at Tatlock Park in Summit, New Jersey earlier this week getting some spring work in prior to reporting for the offseason workout program in East Rutherford on April 15.

Manning is no stranger to hosting non-official workouts in both the spring and summer, having done so dating back to his sophomore year in the league. And while this workout featured just three local Giants, his annual “Manning Camp” at Duke University often includes dozens of his teammates.

The recently traded Odell Beckham Jr. rarely showed up to Manning’s workouts, often opting to train in Los Angeles, which he will do again this year with the Cleveland Browns.

Barkley and Shepard are frequent training partners for Beckham, so as he gets his spring workouts underway, it’s encouraging to see the duo choosing to workout with Manning — at least for now — instead.

Manning is expected to start for the Giants in 2019 despite facing increasing criticism and calls for him to be replaced.
