Giants’ Daniel Jones named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones can now officially put the final stamp on his first week of work at the NFL level.

Days after leading the Giants to a thrilling comeback victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — a win that breathed life into the organization — Jones has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Jones is the second Giants rookie in as many seasons to take home a Player of the Week Award, joining running back Saquon Barkley, who earned the honor following a Week 11 game last season in which he scored three touchdowns.

Jones finished his first career start having completed 23 of 36 passes for 336 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, adding two scores on the ground, including the eventual game-winner.

The Player of the Week honor is the first for a rookie quarterback making their first NFL start since Marcus Mariota did it for the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the 2015 season.
