Giant Ferris wheel plan for Ayrshire seafront

A giant Ferris wheel offering picturesque views of the Ayrshire coast could be built on Largs seafront.

Plans have been submitted to construct a 32 metre tall wheel on open land at the town's promenade, adjacent to Brisbane Street.

Applicant Calvin Thomson wants to operate the attraction every summer for an initial three year period, according to documents lodged with North Ayrshire Council.

And the wheel could be in place as early as this June, if planners give the proposal the green light.

It is proposed that the wheel would be in operation from June 30 to September 4 each year.
