A giant 30-storey tower of 330 apartments is planned for Central Square in Cardiff.
Developer Rightacres has revealed plans for the tower on land north of Wood Street and east of Scott Road.
The building would include 557 square metres of commercial uses on the ground floor, and space to store 120 bicycles.

Rightacres is currently consulting the public on its plans, before applying to Cardiff Council for planning permission.
The developer said: “It seeks to continue the ongoing regeneration of Central Square, and will provide substantial residential accommodation in a highly sustainable city centre location. The application site has been cleared for development, having previously been occupied by St David’s House.”
St David’s House, which was demolished in 2019, used to run the length of Wood Street, but has now already been partly replaced with the new tax offices. Elsewhere on Central Square, several new buildings have been built recently, including the new BBC headquarters, and the unfinished, long-delayed new bus station.

The pre-application consultation runs until December 7, and people can respond on this website.
The developer added: “The transport Interchange is currently under construction and includes a residential tower similar in height to the Plot 5 development. Together these will bookend Wood Street and help to identify the commercial centre of Cardiff.
“The design of the residential tower and pavilion will create an active frontage to Wood Street and a new public realm that contains the recently installed Betty Campbell Square.”
