England and Germany renew their rivalry in the Nations League tonight.
Munich’s Allianz Arena welcomes the Three Lions in what is a rematch of their Euro 2020 last-16 meeting, which England won 2-0 to end a 55-year hoodoo in major tournament knockout meetings against Die Mannschaft.
However, Gareth Southgate’s side can rely upon a more convincing historical picture when taking on the Germans this evening.
Before defeat in Dortmund five years ago, England had claimed victory on their three previous visits. That included a 3-2 comeback win courtesy of a last-minute Eric Dier header in 2016 and an almost-as-late John Terry goal securing a 2-1 win in 2008 - plus a rather memorable 5-1 World Cup qualifying triumph in 2001.
