The former Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier looks poised to return to Lyon as general manager, the Ligue 1 club’s president said on Monday.
“We’ve been working with Gérard Houllier so that he becomes the general manager,” said Jean-Michel Aulas, who added that the former Lyon players Cris and Grégory Coupet would be part of head coach Bruno Génésio’s staff, told OL TV.
Aulas added that Houllier’s return was subject to a medical.
Houllier has endured heart problems during his career in England, needing five months out of the game while in charge of Liverpool in 2001. He was also admitted to hospital during his time as Aston Villa manager.
The former France coach led Lyon to two Ligue 1 titles between 2005-07.
