Georgia vs. Florida serves as CFB scouting highlight for Dolphins

Dolphins fans looking for some college football scouting this morning are in for a rude awakening. The Alabama Crimson Tide are off today — and QB Tua Tagovailoa probably wouldn’t play in the game if they did anyway. No harm, not foul! The LSU Tigers have a 2020 quarterback prospect of their own.

Too bad they’re also off this weekend.

And so looking through the scope of the 2020 NFL Draft for the Dolphins, the two biggest heavy hitters are off this weekend ahead of playing one another in Tuscaloosa next weekend. It will be worth the wait, we promise. For today, the rivalry game known as ‘The World’s Largest Cocktail Party’ will do just fine to serve as a showcase for Miami Dolphins fans (and the scouting department) in the search for talent that can be helpful to this Dolphins’ team in 2020 and beyond.

There is a surplus of talent included in this year’s game, including several potential 1st-round draft selections at positions of need for the Dolphins. The Bulldogs feature a 1st-round backfield between RB D’Andre Swift and QB Jake Fromm. Fromm hasn’t had the best of seasons this year, not that he’s played poorly but his physical limitations have caused him to fall off the pace of players like Tagovailoa, Joe Burrow and others. The rest of the Bulldogs supporting cast is modest, except up front on the offensive line where a potential top-10 pick in Andrew Thomas mans Fromm’s blindside. Next to Thomas? A stout, powerful guard named Solomon Kindley who is a viable starter at the NFL level.

Defensively, the Gators will provide plenty of resistance between DEs Jonathan Greenard (a Louisville transfer) and Jabari Zuniga. The Gators’ best prospect will be playing cat and mouse with Fromm all afternoon — CB C.J. Henderson. Henderson is a difficult projection for the Dolphins, as he’s not overly stout as a tackler. But he’s very good in man to man coverage, which the Dolphins will like.

There’s no shortage of extra prospects playing in this game and elsewhere across the country, but Dolphins fans looking for the most compelling match-up of the day would be wise to check out this SEC action.
