Georgia track star Matthew Boling announces pro decision

The Georgia Bulldogs men’s tracks standout Matthew Boling has announced his intentions to turn professional instead of returning to Georgia for another year.

Matthew Boling plans to train for the 2024 Olympics, which will be held in Paris, France.

This August, the Georgia track standout ran a leg of Team USA’s world record-setting 4×400 mixed and men’s meter relay. Team USA earned gold in the mixed relay, with a record time of 3:08.80, at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Boling helped Georgia finish seventh place at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Boling finishes his four season season career at Georgia as a14-time first-team All-American. In high school, Bolding was named as the Gatorade national boys track and field player of the year.

Matthew Boling finished second in the 200-meter final with a strong time of 20.13 seconds in the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Georgia track and field will miss Matthew Boling, but Bulldog fans can’t help but be optimistic about his future. Boling will try to qualify for the Olympics. U.S. Olympic trials are held in Eugene, Oregon.
