Georgia football announces second ‘big name’ guest for 2019 coaching clinic

The Georgia football program will be holding its annual coaching clinic from March 28th through the 30th this year. Last week, it was announced that Doug Pederson, head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles will be attending the event.

According to the clinic’s website, three coaches are slated to attend this year’s three-day event and we now know two of the names.  In addition to Pederson, Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin will make a stop in Athens to speak.

Kiffin has been all around the college and professional football landscape, coaching the Oakland Raiders from 2007-2008 before taking over as head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers for one season in 2009.  The current Owls coach then left the Volunteers for the head coaching job at USC.

After being let go by USC on a tarmac before heading back to Los Angeles in 2013, Kiffin then joined the staff of Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide for 2014.  Towards the end of the 2016 college football season, Kiffin left the Tide to become the next head coach at Florida Atlantic after turning his career around.

In his first season, the longtime coach put the Owls on the national map, leading them to an 11-3 record and the Conference USA title along with a Boca Raton Bowl win.

Kiffin is notorious in Athens for his comments regarding the SEC while at Tennessee, including Georgia.

Adding the humorous coach to the Bulldogs’ clinic list is sure to create a big splash amongst middle and high school coaches come March.
