George Floyd protests: Lana Del Rey faces backlash for sharing 'dangerous' video of looters

Lana Del Rey is facing a backlash once again for posting footage on Instagram of people looting during a Black Lives Matter protest.

The singer, who was protesting in Los Angeles over the weekend, was criticised by musicians Tinashe and Kehlani, with the latter writing: “Please remove your Instagram post – it’s dangerous as f*** and a very poor choice of moment to post. DO NOT endanger people with your very massive platform.”

Tinashe added: “Why the f*** you posting people looting stores on your page, literally WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.”

Both Tinashe and Kehlani deleted their comments after Del Rey deleted her initial post, which quickly circulated online. Tinashe thanked her for doing so.

Many called the singer out for posting the video as protesters continued to seek justice for George Floyd and other African American people who have been killed by police in the US.

In the deleted video, Del Rey had zoomed in on looters, leaving their identities exposed.

Last week, Del Rey denied being racist after facing a backlash for remarks that saw her seemingly suggest she is treated more unfairly compared to people from multiple ethnic groups.

Listing several musicians, the singer failed to name a single fully white artist.

In her defence, which lasted for six-minutes, Del Rey defended herself from accusations of racism by saying: “I’m super strong… you can call me whatever. I’m sorry that I didn’t add one 100 per cent caucasian person into the mix of the women that I admire. It really says more about you than it does about me.”
