Sunderland-born Charlotte Crosby has branded the city "an absolute dive".
But the Geordie Shore star has been slammed by fans who accused her of forgetting "her roots".
She made the claim to her three million Twitter followers in response to Love Island's Sam Gowland.
He posted a video - being probed by Northumbria Police - allegedly showing England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford clashing with fans during Sunderland AFC's Checkatrade Trophy final defeat.

"How s*** must your life be to be shouting abuse to a lad u dont actually know on a night out with your mates," posted Sam over the clip.
It sparked a reply from Charlotte , who wrote: "That’s Sunderland for you Sam. ABSOLUTE DIVE.
"That’s where it happened. It’s getting worse and worse that place."
But fans were outraged by Charlotte's tweet.
"Never been so disappointed to read something on Twitter from someone I have always loved," wrote one.
"Its a disgrace to be so abusive about your home town on a national platform, especially without getting your facts right."

Another posted: "How dare you - Sunderland is no dive."
She's the latest reality star to have a pop at Sunderland.

Prior to Sunday's final, X Factor's Wagner posted a video branding Black Cats fans "inbred".
He defended the video - believed to have been orchestrated by Newcastle United fans - as "light banter".

But Ben Jewers, of Sunderland fanzine A Love Supreme, criticised the clip.
