'Gentle giant': US mourns Sgt Angel Rampersad killed in Iranian attack

US Army Jordan (Geopolitical Entity) New York Queens (Geopolitical Entity)

US Army Sgt Angel Rampersad, the 28-year-old soldier believed to be among those killed in last week's Iranian attack on a military base in Jordan, was mourned by family, friends and neighbours in New York's Queens on Wednesday. American flags flew at half-staff as neighbours mourned.

A flag-draped transfer case carrying Rampersad's remains arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, where her mother, Carol Acevedo, attended the military's dignified transfer ceremony. The soldier had initially been listed as missing before military officials confirmed her death.
