Geno Silva dead: Scarface actor who played silent assassin The Skull dies aged 72

Geno Silva has died at the age of 72, his family has said.

The actor was best-known for playing the The Skull, the silent assassin who takes out Al Pacino's character, in the 1983 hit Scarface.

Silva died at his Los Angeles home and the cause of death was complications relating to dementia, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

During his acting career, Silva also appeared in a number of other cult hits.

In 2001, he landed a role in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive and appeared in two Steven Spielberg movies, Amistad and The Lost Word: Jurassic World.

His TV roles include parts in Star Trek: Enterprise and The Sentinel.

In 1993, Silva starred in the drama Key West, playing Hector Allegria.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela, his sister, daughter and two grandchildren.
