Genius website finds you supermarket delivery slots amid coronavirus demand

One young businessman has found a way to help big supermarket customers more easily secure a delivery slot amid the coronavirus pandemic.

With the UK in lockdown and the public told to avoid going outside as much as possible, demand for home delivery has sky rocketed.

But now 22-year-old Jason Moore has launched a website alongside former Apprentice contestant Sabrina Stocker, 24, to help ease that headache.

The platform, called Shopping Slot, acts as a 'finder' scouring sites and notifying shoppers when a slot becomes available, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Currently, the site searches Britain's biggest supermarkers, however there are plans to expand to smaller companies.

Jason said: "I was spending hours online trying to reserve spaces, so I designed a website which automated the process.

"Initially, this was for my family and friends, but I thought it would be nationally beneficial for those elderly, vulnerable and isolating."

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, shoppers have found it hard to book delivery slots at leading supermarkets due to high demand.

Some slots are dedicated to vulnerable or elderly shoppers, and those who can visit stores are encouraged to do so.

Sabrina said: "My grandparents couldn’t leave the house and my family are isolating so we couldn’t deliver her food shop this week.

"Using Shopping Slot, I was able to book her a next day delivery slot from Iceland and was so grateful. I want Shopping Slot to become a national brand to help others in need."

Shoppers can use Shopping Slot for free and only have to enter their postcode to carry out a search.

If no delivery slot is available, users can request to be emailed as soon as one becomes available.

Jason and Sabrina hope the website will save millions of shoppers time as they will no longer need to continuously refresh supermarket websites.

The pair also hope their website will help millions of vulnerable or elderly shoppers or anyone self isolating who is currently finding shopping online impossible.
