Hits Radio presenter Gemma Atkinson was triumphant after completing a weekend fitness retreat in the Scottish Highlands. A beaming Gemma gave a thumbs-up after enjoying a trip to Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands with Fitnessat58degrees.

The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actress, from Bury, announced back in January that she and her Strictly Come Dancing star fiance Gorka Marquez would be welcoming a little boy into their family, a baby brother for their three-year-old daughter, Mia. They shared the news alongside a string of black and white images which Gemma and dancer Gorka both posted to their Instagram pages.

Fans agreed that Gemma was 'glowing' as she shared photos from her active retreat on Instagram which she spent with Olympians and SAS legends. "What a weekend! Sat waiting to fly home from 2 nights in Aviemore," she wrote.

"I’ve been lucky enough to spend the weekend with Olympians, SAS legends and all round inspirational people. Hearing their stories has been so inspiring and motivating. All out in the wonderful wilderness."

Fitness fan Gemma, who regularly shares her workouts with fans, added movingly about her achievement while pregnant: "I brought little man to the table in the form of my bump and at times felt I was hiking carrying a med ball BUT I did it, and I loved it!"

Gemma, who is due to give birth this summer, is already looking forward to returning, saying: "Thanks for having us all @fitnessat58degrees Here’s to our sept reunion."

In one video clip shared on her Instagram Stories an elated Gemma said she was on her way to watch the others do a cold water plunge. "Obviously I can't," she said cheerily, before spotted a dog that she headed off to greet.

mrs_d64 told her: "Good for you Gemma, you're glowing!! I walked my bump up a local hill with my mum & dad, 2 days before I gave birth to my daughter, 34 years ago. It's so good for you to just keep moving."

Gemma has been keeping her followers updated on her pregnancy journey. Taking to Instagram on Thursday (March 2), Gemma, 38, shared two side-by-side photos as she spoke opently about her changing body.

One showed her back in 2020 nearly a year after her pregnancy with Mia, who was born in July 2019, and one from her current pregnancy. "Things I’ve learnt from my two pregnancies (first pic 8 months after Mia, 2nd pic today)," she said before clarifying: "This is NOT a 'I want my body back' post. The opposite actually."

She went on to write: "The change in body shape and size is the obvious. My boobs, bum, legs and belly have doubled in size. Not all clothes fit and the majority certainly aren’t comfortable.

"My cellulite has doubled. My coordination, balance and even memory are a little off. The veins in my boobs when I’m warm are like a road map and from sleeping only on my left side for almost 6 months my back is a tad sore.

"People keep reminding me how 'big' I am. Yes I know. Believe it or not I’m fully aware and I’m hoping to get bigger! That means little man is growing.

"My options in all of the above are to spend the 9 months dwelling about not feeling or looking like myself OR show up regardless. As I am. Get s*** done run our home, work and be present for Mia bumping along each day at a time."

She continued proudly: "For me, nothing has taught me adaptability like pregnancy has. Or resilience actually. It’s by far the toughest workout I’ve ever done (and my coach once made me do the CHAD wod)."

Gemma went on to conclude her post: "I know for all mums to be that at times it’s hard. Physically and emotionally. BUT I’m a massive believer in that I am in control of how I approach things!

"I’m also conscious of the fact that for now, me and my baby are one. He feels what I feel so I’m reluctant to let in the negative energies. For this blessing of growing my son, I’m choosing to go ALL IN. Positively."
