The era of the DCU is now upon us. How are you feeling about it? James Gunn’s Superman is a polarizing film. I did not enjoy it, but many fans did. There is a vocal online fanbase for Peacekeeper Season 2, but the show did not even register on the Nielsen ratings. My point is that all is not lost. Supergirl and Clayface films are on the way, as well as Superman: Man of Tomorrow in 2027. If you are vocal about supporting the DCU and DC Comics, then why not get a DC Comics shirt?

While I think Cavill aesthetically looks like Superman, his Man of Steel, BvS, and Justice League appearances did not work for me. I don’t think Zack Snyder understood the character. There is nothing cool about seeing a dark Superman with low self-esteem, uncertain about his place in the world.
Still, I loved Cavill’s uniform with no red undies! Reeve’s Superman uniform was based on the circus strongman uniforms of the early 20th century, and his red undies were on the outside. It was the 20th century, and I give it a pass.
Cavill’s uniform had no red undies and was almost post-modern and alien-looking, yet familiar.

In an age of comic book film fatigue, it seems like these films are losing popularity. 2025 is the first year since 2011 when no comic book film has made $700 million or greater. The comic book industry is not going to become obsolete anytime soon, but people don’t buy comics like they used to either.
