Gary Neville makes hilarious request to Spurs that Liverpool fans will hate after Man City win

Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League exploits against Man City will have taken a huge mental and physical toll on the squad.

It's not out of the question that the demands of the quarter final clash could leave them with something of a hangover as they travel back to the Etihad Stadium for Saturday's Premier League clash.

That's what Gary Neville is hoping for, at least.

The Manchester United legend is caught between a rock and a hard place with their two biggest rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool, battling for the Premier League title.

However when push comes to shove it seems that Neville would much prefer Pep Guardiola's side to secure the title.

Manchester United have been the arch rivals of Liverpool for decades, and while the cross-city rivalry with the Blues is growing in intensity, it doesn't even come close when it comes to history and bad blood.

Spurs vs Ajax and Liverpool vs Barcelona Champions League semi-final dates confirmed

That's exactly why Neville is hoping that Spurs can do him a favour by helping City to the title.

The Sky Sports pundit took to social media after Tottenham's historic Champions League clash with Man City and congratulated the north London side, before opting for some tongue-in-cheek psychological warfare.

He Tweeted: "An amazing game and well done to Spurs. All your players must be really tired. Take a rest Saturday!"

It's plausible that Manchester City's squad depth could come to their rescue on Saturday, and that's exactly what Gary Neville will be hoping for as he looks to see Liverpool miss out on the title.
