Gary Neville has stated that Liverpool will be title contenders, despite Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo stealing the headlines.
The former United defender watched Jurgen Klopp’s emphatic 3-0 win over Leeds on Sunday and was impressed with the manner that the Reds handled a difficult task.
Securing their second away win of the season, the three points continued their unbeaten start to the season and placed Liverpool joint-top with Manchester United and Chelsea .
Though the Reds have not been talked up as much as some of their title rivals, Neville believes the squad still has more than enough quality to compete for the league.

“It’s been a good start to the season”, he said on the Gary Neville Podcast .
“Everyone’s talking about Cristiano Ronaldo , Manchester United. Manchester City obviously champions, Chelsea signing [Romelu] Lukaku.
“So everything’s been away from Liverpool and questioning whether Liverpool’s team is over the hill and [saying[ this Liverpool team that Jurgen Klopp ’s had is past its best.
“But it was a really good performance, they did everything they were asked to do.”

Manchester United and Chelsea also recorded impressive wins at the weekend, with Manchester City squeezing past Leicester, but Liverpool’s victory was one that reaffirmed their title challenge.
