Gary Barlow wins row to extend £6million mansion - after bats hold up his plans

Popstar Gary Barlow has won a bat-tle to build a garage for his fleet of luxury cars.

The Back for Good singer faced opposition from conservationists to convert part of his £6million Cotswolds home – because a pair of pipistrelles nested in the roof.

But he’s been given the go-ahead after a bat expert spent time at his country house monitoring the mammals’ movements.

All the multi-millionaire has to do is pay £130 for a bat disruption licence and ensure the bats are “not harmed during works”.

Gary, 49, and wife Dawn, 48, will also have to make sure the pair at their mansion in Alvescot, Oxfordshire, have a replacement home.

So the couple have agreed to install a bat box for them on a nearby tree. The star is demolishing two paddocks on the estate to build a garage, garden store and workshop.

He has a range of luxury cars, believed to include a £100,000 Range Rover SDV8.

He is also said to still own a black cab he bought after a lunch with Andrew Lloyd Webber in 2010.

The former X Factor judge bought the property for £2.3m in 2007. David Beckham, Jeremy Clarkson and David Cameron have homes nearby.

A spokesperson for the star declined to comment.
