Gareth Southgate delivers injury update on Harry Kane after England omission

England boss Gareth Southgate has provided a fitness update on Tottenham frontman Harry Kane.

Kane was absent from England's starting XI for their Nations League clash with Belgium this evening, leading to concerns over his fitness.

But Southgate has confirmed the Spurs star is 'not injured', only suffering from muscle fatigue.

“He’s had a strange training week, really," he told Sky Sports.

"We gave him a couple of days of recovery after Sunday, and he started training on Wednesday, he felt some cramp.

"He’s had muscle fatigue, basically, he’s missed most of the week’s training, he got a little bit more confident with it later in the week, but hasn’t really done enough on the field to start.

"He’s not injured, he can perhaps come on later in the game. He seems more confident in how he feels, but he hasn’t had a lot of training time.”

Kane was also rested from England's friendly win over Wales during the week, Southgate putting out a much-changed XI.

As mentioned by Southgate, the Tottenham striker is on the bench this evening and could still feature.
