Gardai swoop on Mayo pub and make arrest for public order offence

Gardai arrested a man at a pub in Mayo at the weekend after a spot visit.

A man, 39, was arrested for public order offences at a premises in Belmullet shortly after 6pm on Sunday evening.

The unnamed premises was reportedly in breach of Covid-19 regulations with a file being prepared for the DPP - according to the Western People.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí arrested a 39 year-old man following a public order incident at a premises on Sunday 6 September 2020 at approximately 6.30pm in Belmullet, Co.Mayo."

A total of 185 breaches of Covid guidelines have been found in pubs from thousands of searches since Operation Navigation was launched.

In all of these cases, alcohol was being consumed without any evidence of food, or receipts showing food had been sold.
