Gardai rush to scene after man hospitalised in horror Dundalk assault

A man in his 30s is being treated in hospital after an assault in Co Louth yesterday.

Gardai are investigating an assault that happened in Oakland Park, Dundalk, just before 5pm yesterday evening.

A man in his 30s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda to be treated for his injuries.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred in Oakland Park, Dundalk, shortly before 5pm yesterday evening, Thursday 29th July 2021.

"A male in his 30s was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda to be treated for his injuries.

"No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing."

It follows another alleged assault in Dundalk earlier this week which left a man and woman seriously injured.

The apparent stabbing incident happened at Castletown Road on Wednesday morning.

The pair were left with serious injuries and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.

The man had earlier been seen by neighbours lying on the path covered in blood before gardai and then paramedics turned up.

Having been treated in hospital, the man was discharged and arrested by gardai.

The suspect, in his 30s, was held at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He subsequently appeared before Dundalk District Court yesterday morning.
