A garda was rushed to hospital after a terrifying ramming incident in Co Kilkenny on Tuesday.
The incident happened in the Callan area of the county, close to the border with Tipperary.
Chair of Kilkenny County Council's Joint Policing Committee, Councillor Pat Fitzpatrick, explained that the officer was injured when a patrol car was rammed as two gardai were responding to a call.
There have not yet been any arrests in connection with the incident, but Cllr Fitzpatrick said "very significant progress" is being made in the investigation.
And gardai added that a 4x4 vehicle that was taken from the Killienaule area at around 4pm yesterday was later found abandoned in Co Wexford.

Cllr Fitzpatrick told local radio station KCLR: "Yesterday afternoon a patrol car out in Callan got rammed. Two of our own gardai were on the scene and one of our gardai was injured and is recovering and we would like to wish him a speedy recovery.
“There’s a full investigation and it’s making significant progress is what I understand. And again I want to commend the gardai that were involved and all the gardai locally who do so much trojan work to keep our community safe, we have a very good team of members of An Garda Siochana in Kilkenny."
A garda spokeswoman added: "A 4x4 vehicle taken in the Killienaule area at approximately 4pm on May 25 was later found abandoned in New Ross, Co Wexford.
"No arrests were made, enquires into the matter are ongoing."
