A special team attached to the Dindigul Superintendent of Police here chased a private car after the driver reportedly did not stop at a check post and seized 140 kilograms of ganja valued at around ₹ 13 lakh here on Sunday.
Police said that the team members comprising SIs of Police Marimuthu, Sheik Dawood and others were engaged in vehicle check at Samudrapatti near Natham in the district. As the vehicle did not stop, the team chased and intercepted on Sendurai Road. When they checked, the driver confessed to having stacked ganja in seven bags.
The driver of the car was given as Gunasekaran of Anjukuzhipatti. They handed over the vehicle and the narcotics with the Natham police. Further investigation is on. Meanwhile, the SP V.R. Srinivasan commended the special team.
