Gangs of kids have been throwing fireworks at cars and damaging street furniture as they case "alarm and distress".
Reports have been made to Merseyside Police of youths congregating, some of whom have been involved in criminal damage offences, causing "alarm and distress" to local residents in the community. Youths have been throwing fireworks at cars and damaging street furniture.
As a result, the force has introduced a dispersal zone in which additional police powers will be given. The zone will be in place from 7pm Sunday, October 30 until 8am on October 31 where it will be "further reviewed". The zone covers the areas of Longmoor Lane, Lower Lane, Copplehouse Lane, River Alt and Lower Lane.

Community Policing Inspector Andrew Lloyd said: "We have proactively put this dispersal order in place in response to reports involving anti-social behaviour where youths are throwing fireworks at motorists and criminal damage of street furniture in the area. This dispersal order is to prevent youths gathering and causing unnecessary distress and intimidation to people who want to go about their business without fear or harm.
"We have increased patrols in the area, and this latest action of a dispersal zone is to deal with any issues and prevent offences from taking place. I would ask people to continue reporting any concerns and we will take action. I would urge parents and guardians to know where young people in your care are, to further assist us in dealing with those who cause trouble."
The order comes under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour & Policing Act 2014, which gives police officers and police community support traffic officers powers to direct people who are engaging in antisocial behaviour or are likely to become involved in such incidents.
These powers will not be used for anyone visiting the area and going about their daily business. Under the legislation, officers have the power to seize any item, including vehicles, used in the commission of anti-social behaviour.
Should a person who has previously been directed to leave the area return, an offence would be committed, which they may ultimately be arrested for.
