A man is in hospital after being brutally battered by a gang of thugs on a Scots street.
The terrifying late night attack came on on Stirling Road at its junction with Bellsmyre Avenue in Dumbarton at around 11.45pm last night.
The 23-year-old was approached by three men and assaulted.
Emergency crews raced to the scene and he has been taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where his condition is described as stable.
Police are treating the incident as a serious assault.
There is limited information on the three men – they are aged between 18 and 25 years of age.
Following the incident, the three men made off towards Dumbarton Town Centre.
Officers are checking relevant CCTV footage for any additional information on the suspects or the incident.
Detective Constable Geoff McKillop said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and a young man has been injured. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.
"In particular, any motorists with dash cam devices, I would ask them to check their cameras and they may have captured an image which could assist our investigation.”
