A key worker was spat at by a gang of teenagers as she was getting out of her car.
Cheshire Police said a group of teens aged 13 to 18 approached the woman on Westminster Road, in Ellesmere Port, and hurled abusive language at her, spat at her clothing and kicked her car.
The force said the shocking assault happened last Thursday evening, at about 6.30pm, when millions of people are supposed to only leave the house if it's essential.
PC Chris Francis, from Ellesmere Port local policing unit, said: “I struggle to comprehend such disgraceful and completely unacceptable behaviour during what is a challenging and difficult time for us all."
Officers said the teens had their faces covered with scarves and some of them were riding bikes.
They spoke with local accents, were wearing dark clothing and made off from the area in a nearby alleyway afteward.
PC Chris Francis added: “I would like to appeal to anyone who has any information about what happened to come forward. I’d also like to hear from anyone who lives locally and has any CCTV or dashcam footage around this particular time.
“I also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”
