LUDHIANA: The Sahnewal police have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of five accused. The police have also recovered one illegal country made pistol, 14 snatched mobiles, five snatched and stolen bikes and three sharp edged weapons from their possession.
The arrested accused have been identified as Guddu Kumar of Makkar Colony, Sunny Kumar of Sherpur, Abhay Chauhan of Samrat Colony, Sooraj of Samrat Colony, Tunna Kumar of Sherpur. The accused were arrested by the police following a tip-off from near Eastman chowk, Dhandari Kalan.
Inspector Pawan Kumar, SHO of Sahnewal police station, said with the arrest of the accused the police had traced at least 60 cases of snatching. The accused had snatched these bikes and then used them for robbing and committing other snatchings.
Further, in-charge of Kanganwal police post, ASI Rajwant Singh said that the accused Guddu and Tunna Kumar were already facing trials in different cases and at present they were out on bail. The accused stated that they used to sell snatched mobiles for easy money.
