Game of Thrones star spills on-set secrets at Edinburgh TV Festival

Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke has revealed how Game of Thrones actors got hot under the collar during a new interview as part of Edinburgh International Television Festival.

The actress, who played Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series spoke to director Paul Feig on a range of subjects for the video, including some neat tricks including how the Night's Watch stay cool off-camera.

She said: "The guys in the Night's Watch, Jon Snow, are wearing a woolly mammoth all the time."

She explained: "When we were shooting things in a hot country when they had all of those things on, they had this pump that had its own little generator attached into the costumes."

"They used it to pump cold water into these pipes and cool them all down so underneath they had this weird kind of cooling system."

However there was no such movie magic for female cast members.

She said: “But girls weren’t allowed that. All I could get was the back of my wig to be lifted up."

While it might be easier to hide a cooling system inside a woolly mammoth cloak than in some of the costumes worn by the women in the show, it seems a little unfair that lifting up the back of your wig is all that can be done for the great Khaleesi.
