Game of Thrones script reveals just how broken Jon Snow was after Daenerys death

It's hard being honourable in the land of Westeros.

Game of Thrones hero Jon Snow (Kit Harington) had a particularly difficult final season as he was torn between his loyalties to his Stark siblings and his aunt-lover Queen Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

Events reached a dramatic conclusion after Daenerys was responsible for the burning of King's Landing and its innocent citizens, prompting Jon to reluctantly kill the woman he loves to prevent her causing further destruction in her quest for world domination.

We knew his violent actions were hard on him, but we didn't realise how hard until we saw the Emmy Award-nominated script for the finale, The Iron Throne, by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.

In describing the scene in which Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) visits Jon in his cell where he is being kept after he murdered Daenerys, we see the toll that his actions have taken on him.

The script reads: "Jon looks ragged. He hasn't slept, hasn't eaten, hasn't bathed. He looks like a man who doesn't care whether he lives or dies. Tyrion has been explaining the outcome of the kingsmoot to Jon, who barely seems to listen."

We're not sure he will now he's up Beyond the Wall as one of the Free Folk, however, as Kit Harington described why he felt Jon's "actual" ending was the right one for the former King in the North.
