Game of Thrones prequel adds five more cast members including John Simm

The Game of Thrones prequel is consolidating its cast.

According to Variety, Marquis Rodriguez, John Simm, Richard McCabe, John Heffernan, and Dixie Egerickx have all been cast in series regular roles. There’s no word yet who they might be playing.

Simm is best known for his role as the Master on Doctor Who, having also starred in TV’s Life on Mars, Collateral, and Strangers

Rodriguez, meanwhile, appeared in Marvel’s Luke Cage and Iron Fist, while also having landed a role in the upcoming Netflix miniseries When They See Us, from director Ava DuVernay. The show is based on the true story of the Central Park Five.

McCabe has had roles in a number of TV shows, including Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, Harlots, Collateral, and Peaky Blinders. Heffernan, meanwhile, has been featured in Dracula, Brexit, Collateral, The Crown, and Luther

Egerickx previously appeared in the film The Little Stranger, while also starring in a new upcoming version of The Secret Garden

Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, Toby Regbo, and Miranda Richardson have all already been announced for the show.

HBO has said the show will focus on “the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour”. It will take place thousands of years before events depicted in Game of Thrones and will explore “the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history”, while also revealing the true origins of the White Walkers.

Game of Thrones‘s eight and final season begins on HBO on 14 April. Seasons 1 – 7 are available to watch on NowTV.
