Galloway Cricket Club hold end of 2022 season awards night

The end of season awards ceremony took place at the Galloway Lodge in Gatehouse on Saturday night.

Before and after the delicious meal provided by the Galloway Lodge, awards were presented by Kathleen Hamblin, club chairperson and Pat Druce, club development officer.

Pat spoke about working with juniors at the club and in schools, and running disability cricket sessions.

There was a raffle with more than 30 prizes donated by local businesses and members of the club which raised more than £650. To finish, Andy Sharples ran Bingo and another game to end a most enjoyable evening.

Training for men, women and juniors continues over the off season. Details from Pat Druce.

The winners were as follows:

First XI player of the year: Anthony Hulatt.

Second XI player of the year: Andy Sharples.

Women’s player of the year: Fiona (Pony) Ramsay/Kelly Rees.

Junior player of the year: Joe McMenemy.

Outstanding junior (batting): Alex McMenemy.

Outstanding junior (bowling): Jack Haggerty.

The Gallery at Laurieston Award: Ross Lamb.

George Creyke Memorial Trophy for contribution to the club: Andy Sharples.

Development officer special award: Mackenzie Sharples.

Champagne Moment: John Goodenough (boundary catch v Motherwell).
