Galiform climbs on Travis Perkins takeover talk

Shares in Galiform, the Howdens joinery group, is in focus on renewed takeover speculation.

Talk that builders merchant Travis Perkins, up 12.5p to 823.5p, could be interested in Galiform has been around for a while, but has been growing stronger in recent days. Traders are attributing a 4.05p rise in Galiform shares to 77.3p this morning to the tale. Galiform - which is now valued at just over £400m - issued an upbeat trading statement in July, reporting better than expected margins and debt reduction. Analysts believe the two companies would fit well together.
