Gaetano Berardi names Leeds United fan favourite as the best player he's ever played with

Gaetano Berardi has said that Leeds United winger Pablo Hernández is the best player he’s ever played with.

An arrival at Elland Road in the summer of 2014 from Serie A outfit Sampdoria, the defender has overseen plenty of changes to the squad during this period.

The likes of Liam Cooper, Chris Wood, Luke Ayling and Mateusz have all been teammates of Berardi at Leeds, whilst the Italian has also played alongside Mauro Icardi, Eder as well as Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi.

However, there's one player whom he ranks above everybody else and that's Hernandez.

The former Valencia and Swansea City winger arrived in Yorkshire in the summer of 2017 from Al Arabi Sports Club, and has clearly left quite the impression on Berardi.

“Currently Hernández,” Berardi told Club Doria 46 when asked to name the best player he’s played with, as reported by Sport Witness.

“But it’s another category (the Championship). At Brescia, I had Alino Diamanti who was very strong, but one of the best I played with is certainly Eder when I was at Sampdoria.

"After my friend Paladino, obviously.”

With 33 goals and 36 assists in 150 games to date for Leeds, it's no surprise that Berardi thinks to highly of Hernandez who is a popular figure amongst the supporters.

Berardi also added that Marcelo Bielsa is the best coach he's ever had.

“It is the current one, “El Loco”, Bielsa,” he added when asked to name his best coach. “But Iachini and Mihailovic are also top; I worked with them at Sampdoria. Of Iachini I remember the speeches before games, especially in the playoffs. It charged you up the way he spoke.

“With Sinisa, I remember doing what he said; there was no possibility of a discussion… there was no need for threats.

“Once we had lost very badly, I don’t remember who against.

"After training Sinisa made us review the nightmare of those 90 minutes two or three times.”
