G2 Esports appoint Perkz as head coach, Dylan Falco moved to the bench

G2 Esports has announced a major coaching change ahead of the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2026, with former MSI winner Luka “Perkz” Perković taking over as the team’s head coach. At the same time, long-time head coach Dylan Falco has been moved to the bench.

The organization confirmed on X that Perkz will take over as head coach starting at the Esports World Cup 2026, marking the latest chapter in his long history with G2. Widely regarded as one of Europe’s greatest League of Legends players, Perkz steps into the role after serving as the team’s positional coach for the past month, making this his first stint as G2’s head coach.

G2 did not provide a detailed explanation for the decision, but the move comes after the team’s hot and cold run at the Mid-Season Invitational 2026. Despite entering the tournament with high expectations after winning the LEC Spring Split, G2 fell short of a deep international run, including a 3-1 victory over T1 before being eliminated by LYON in the lower bracket.

Dylan Falco joined G2 ahead of the 2022 season after successful coaching spells with teams including Fnatic and Schalke 04. Under his leadership, G2 reclaimed domestic success with 11 LEC titles and qualified for multiple international events, including First Stand this year, where the team was the runner-up in the tournament, but the organization has now opted for a change.

Perkz is widely regarded as the face of G2 Esports’ legacy. He helped build the organization’s dynasty by winning multiple LEC titles and leading the team to its historic MSI 2019 championship and Worlds 2019 final appearance. After spending the past few years competing across Europe and North America, he now returns to G2 in a leadership role from the sidelines.

The coaching change takes effect immediately, with Perkz expected to make his debut as G2’s head coach at the EWC in Paris. It remains unclear whether Dylan Falco will continue with the organization in another capacity from the bench or if further coaching staff changes will follow, where he’ll join other LEC teams.

G2 Esports will now hope that the leadership switch can help the team regain momentum as it prepares to compete against the world’s best at EWC 2026 and have a deep run at Worlds 2026 later in the year.
