The date for the Group of 20 summit meeting scheduled to be held in Osaka in 2019 has been set for June 28-29, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga announced at a press conference on Monday.
It will be the first time for Japan to host the G-20 summit.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with G-20 leaders that will visit Japan for the meeting. The meeting is expected to be attended by such leaders as U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The venues for a total of eight ministerial meetings to be held on the sidelines of the summit meeting have also been confirmed. Of them, the finance ministers and central bank governors meeting will be held in Fukuoka and the foreign ministerial meeting in Aichi Prefecture.
