Future of historic Nottingham city centre pub The Blue Bell revealed

News that The Blue Bell, was to "close for good" prompted wide-spread dismay and shock amongst drinkers who had supped in the historic Nottingham pub over the decades.

Nearly 3,000 people reacted to the announcement on Facebook, recalling fond memories of days gone by, and more recently messy student nights out and rounds of Jagerpints.

After last orders were called for the final time on Saturday (July 27), plans for the future of the property, straddling Upper Parliament Street and Forman Street, have now been revealed.

The good news is the listed building will remain a drinking hole (it was never going to be turned into student accommodation as some feared).

Following a revamp it will open as Route One Bar, a premium sports bar, promising "good music, tasty food and refreshing drinks."

The pub has the same owners as Fat Cat and OZ Bar, another sports bar in St James's Street, which posted: "The 2019/20 Season is going to be ruled by OZ and Route One."
