Funeral of tragic Sligo accident victim to take place on Monday as 'little angel' to be laid to rest

The funeral of the victim of Friday's tragic accident in Sligo will take place on Monday morning.

Four-year-old Alice Kitty Dunleavy passed away after the incident on Friday afternoon in Enniscrone caravan park.

It is believed she was struck by a reversing car in the park, which overlook Killala Bay on the western coast of Ireland.

She was rushed to hospital in the aftermath, but paramedics were unable to save her.

The funeral details of Alice, who was from Ballina, Co Mayo, have now been confirmed.

Her death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Alice, loved and cherished daughter of John & Ann Marie, treasured sister of Rose & April, grandchild of Michael & Claire Courell & Michael & Eithne Dunleavy. Sadly, missed by her parents, sisters, grandparents, Aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

"Funeral will arrive to St. Muredach’s Cathedral for on Monday for Mass of the Angels at 1.30pm with funeral proceeding to Leigue Cemetery, Ballina. Mass of the Angels will be live streamed on www.ballinaparish.org "

Tributes poured in from friends and people who had read about the story.

One person wrote: "There are no words to say to you over this tragic death that has happen to your beautiful baby girl. You have lost so much but your Angel will always be looking down on you during this horrible time"

A second added: "Alice went to singing & football with my little girl Saoirse. Alice's beautiful smile will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her each week. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all at this very difficult time"

While another wrote: "May you find the strength from somewhere to carry on. Life takes many cruel turns at times and is unfathomable. Alice will always shine bright in your lives because even death will never break a family bond."
