"Christy has lost his biggest fan and influence in life.

"We ask that you respect Christy and his family's privacy at this extremely difficult time.

"May he rest in peace."

And now the Dignam family has revealed that Christy Senior will be laid to rest in a private ceremony due to the Government's Covid-19 guidelines.

A post on RIP.ie reads: "Late of CIE Spa Road. Peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Beneavin Manor Care Home.

"Beloved husband of the late Teresa and loving father of Bernie, Christopher, Deirdre, James, Brian, Therese, Jackie and Eddie.

"Christy will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Nora, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and all who knew and loved him.

"May He Rest In Peace.

"Due to the recent government guidelines regarding public gatherings, Christopher’s Funeral will be held in private."
