Funeral arrangements for tragic Limerick champion boxer Kevin Sheehy, 20, announced

A tragic champion boxer will be laid to rest in his native Limerick on Saturday.

Kevin Sheehy, 20, died after being struck by a car at Hyde Road, on the south of Limerick in the early hours of Monday morning.

He is survived by his mother Tracey, father Kevin, sisters Simone and Cassidy, brother Jamie and his fiancée Emma Colbert who is expecting the couple's first child in a few weeks.

Mr Sheehy’s wake will take place at Crosses Funeral Home on Gerald Griffin Street, Limerick, between 4.30pm-7pm on Friday evening.

A Funeral Mass will be held in the Holy Family Church, Southill, at 11am on Saturday with burial afterward in Mount St Oliver Cemetery.

Members of St Francis Boxing Club are expected to form a guard of honour at the funeral in memory of Mr Sheehy.

Balloons were released at Mr Sheehy's home in John Carew Park on Tuesday evening as a tribute to the young boxer.

Yesterday, a man, appeared before Limerick District Court charged with Mr Sheehy's murder.
