Full five-day Bank Holiday weather forecast as Ireland enjoys mini-heatwave

Ireland will bask in a glorious Bank Holiday weekend as the country bakes in 25C heat.

There will hardly be a drop of rain in sight as Met Eireann expects temperatures to hover around the mid-20s right the way through to Monday.

People across the country are soaking up the rays today despite the lockdown, with some areas seeing the mercury reach 25C

Conditions will stay warm, dry and sunny in all areas on Saturday, with the best of the heat to be found on the west coast.

It will stay mild on Sunday, although it will again be slightly cooler in the north and east.

And forecasters predict the warmest weather will come on the Bank Holiday Monday itself, with highs of 25C expected, warmest in the southwest.

However there is a slight change on the way in the middle of next week, as experts warned of a slightly cooler spell of weather bringing more unsettled conditions. Here is Met Eireann’s full five-day forecast for the Bank Holiday weekend:

Saturday: “It will begin dry and sunny but the sunshine will become hazier at times during the day in light to moderate southeasterly breezes. Warm with highest afternoon temperatures of 20 to 23 degrees, cooler along the coast due to the onshore breeze.”

Sunday: Continuing dry and sunny in most areas, cloudier at times in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 20 to 24 degrees, cooler again on eastern and southern coasts. Sunday night will be dry with mostly clear spells with some mist and fog patches. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, mildest in the northwest where it will be cloudiest.

Monday: Dry and sunny generally; however, the odd light shower may potentially break out during the afternoon. Another warm day with highest temperatures of 22 to 25 degrees, in light to moderate easterly breezes. Continuing dry and clear on Monday night, with lowest temperatures 9 to 12 degrees in a light easterly or variable breezes.

Tuesday: Continuing warm, dry and sunny with maximum temperatures of 20 to 22 degrees generally, but cooler along northern and eastern coasts in light northerly breezes, freshening in the northwest later in the day.

Next week: There is some uncertainty in the outlook, but the trend is for temperatures to drop during midweek and for the later half of the mweek as we will come under the influence of a cooler airmass so highest temperatures will be in the mid-teens as it becomes more unsettled.
