Fulham vs Cardiff: Scott Parker assures Denis Odoi 'is on the mend' after being knocked unconscious

Scott Parker assured that Denis Odoi was healthy and had not been rushed to hospital after the right-back was knocked unconscious during the first half of Fulham’s 1-0 win against Cardiff

Odoi was kicked square in the chest by teammate Maxime Le Marchand’s attempted clearance, with the 30-year-old falling headfirst into the ground and losing consciousness immediately, prompting concern from both sets of players.

Odoi was treated for almost ten minutes by both sets of medical staff and received oxygen on the pitch before being stretchered off.

“It was a concern,” Parker said. “He’s well, with the concussion protocol his season is done, but he’s on the mend, he’s all good. He stayed and watched the second half and I’ve been told he’s okay.

The victory completed a hat-trick, not only of victories but clean sheets for Fulham. A feat which would have seemed miraculous at Christmas, and evidenced the positive impact Parker has had after just eight games in charge of the squad.

When asked if success was coming from the players aligning themselves to his personality and ideals, Parker continued: “We’ve put a lot of work in in a short space of time. The team and the players have been first class, at times maybe we overloaded them with information.

“We’ve tried to set an example and mentality about us. Fulham fans ultimately want to see one thing, fight, desire and that’s certainly what I want to see.

“The players are doing themselves and everyone at the club proud. It comes from hard work, dedication, and taking the new information they’re getting. Three clean sheets, three wins, it’s paying off.”
