Frustrated Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim not feeling Christmas cheer

Manchester United's manager Ruben Amorim expressed on Tuesday his determination to tackle the club's challenges, despite acknowledging the frustrating nature of their current situation.

United are set to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day, seeking to recover from consecutive defeats. Since Amorim's appointment last month when the team was 14th, United have recorded two victories, three defeats and one draw in six league matches.

The club currently occupies 13th position on Christmas Day, marking their lowest December 25 standing since 1986, when they were 15th during Alex Ferguson's early tenure.

"This is maybe one of the lowest moments in our club. We have to face it and be strong," Amorim told reporters.

When questioned about the lack of significant improvement, the Portuguese manager responded: "If I knew, I would solve all the problems of this club, even this (leaky ceiling)."

"I know what I am going to do. That is so clear for me. I will not say I am feeling relaxed because I am really frustrated. It is a very difficult moment but we will solve problems step by step and find answers for everything."

"I just want to win. I don't care about Christmas. I'm just focused on we need to win the next match. That's the only thing I care about."

"We are privileged (in England) we can play on Boxing Day to give some happiness to the fans and we want so bad to win it."

Amorim reported that defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Victor Lindelof remain unavailable, indicating he would adjust the squad to prevent additional injuries.

"In this moment it's not rotation to see the players and prepare the future (but) simply to not have injuries," he stated.

"We are trying to address everything. I know that there is a long-term project and we are focused on that. If we have injuries it's a big problem."

The 39-year-old manager has excluded Marcus Rashford from the squad for three consecutive matches across all competitions, addressing concerns about the striker's advisers following his expressed desire for a 'new challenge'.

"Some guys have a big responsibility here because they have been here for a long time," he remarked regarding the 27-year-old United academy graduate.

"If you have big talent, we need big performance, big responsibility, big engagement to push everybody forward in this moment."
